Batman vs Superman: Jason Momoa as Aquaman?

Jason Momoa looks all set to be stepping into the green and orange tights of Aquaman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie.

While there were strong rumours that his role was between Arthur Curry and Lobo, the former has won out for the Game of Thrones star. Hitflix are reporting that they “can confirm that he will be playing the part, and that Zack Snyder has already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon.”

The role will naturally expand in the Justice League movie, as he will become part of the ensemble team. Hitflix also have a description for how he will fit into the Batman v Superman picture, and perhaps unsurprisingly, it leads in from the destructive ending to Man of Steel.

Someone else who’s not particularly happy about what happened in that film is Aquaman. I’m not sure if that’s the actual name they’ll use or not, but what we’re hearing is that he is not pleased about the World Engine and what it did to the Indian Ocean. He will not have a major role in the film, but he will make an appearance, and it definitely sets him up to return once Snyder gets to Justice League.

The character of Aquaman may be the butt of many jokes when it comes to superheroes, but he has been a badass character since being relaunched in the DC’s New 52. The hiring of Momoa for the role will certainly continue that.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will release May 6, 2016.
