Scott Derrickson was recently named as the director of Marvel’s Doctor Strange movie, and now one of the stars from his latest movie Deliver Us From Evil has revealed that he is in talks with the director for a role in the superhero flick.
Edgar Ramirez (Zero Dark Thirty) spoke with IGN to promote their new film and was asked about whether he had been approached about Doctor Strange. “We’re talking,” answered Ramirez. “We’ve been talking.”
He didn’t reveal any more so it is unlikely that he is up for the title role – which currently has names like Jared Leto, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy rumoured – but he has at least a passing resemblance to his nemesis Baron Mordo. This isn’t the first time he has been in the rumour mill with Cumberbatch, having passed on the role of Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness before it went to the Sherlock star.
Obviously it is possible that nothing will come from this, they are simply at the talking stages after all, but what role would you like to see him play if the talks are successful?
Derrickson and Ramirez’s supernatural thriller Deliver Us From Evil, also starring Eric Bana, arrives in cinemas on July 2.
