Arsene Wenger is going to a busy man this summer with two big signings reportedly on the way in the form of Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez and Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin.
Francois Pinet, one of the top French experts, is reporting a £42m swoop for the two sought after players. Pinet has history with Arsenal, with the Tele Mundial man having previously broken the news of Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny’s signings.
Both men have been display in Brazil during the World Cup, with Sanchez being the key man in Chile’s surprisingly successful campaign. He amassed two goals and an assist before his country were eliminated on penalties to hosts Brazil last night. His form at club Barcelona was equally impressive, scoring 19 goals and 10 assists during their La Liga campaign that saw them challenge for the title until the last game of the season.
Schneiderlin’s France are still in the competition, facing Nigeria tomorrow, but he has only seen the pitch during the final group match in a 0-0 draw with Ecuador when the team had already qualified. His club form was considerably more impressive, where the Southampton man has proven himself one of the top holding midfielders around and won the Player’s and Fan’s Player of the Season for the club. Four-Four-Two magazine also revealed that he managed the most tackles, interceptions and highest work rate of the last campaign.
Pinet broke the scoop via his Twitter account yesterday:
