Sherlock’s Christmas Special Will Be Followed By Three New Episodes

It was only yesterday that we brought news of a one-off Christmas special of Sherlock coming next year, but now comes official news from the BBC themselves that it will be followed by a further three episode series.

The news was broken in a series of tweets from the BBC One Twitter account:

The hashtag, and time of the announcement, are an obvious reference to 221B Bakers Street – the home of residence of the world’s favourite detective.

The announcement will be welcomed with open arms from the Sherlock faithful, with a fourth season looking distant thanks to the demand of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Something which the latter helped to flame this week.

The special will air at Christmas 2015, with the fourth series expected to follow in January 2016 as has become tradition for the show.
