Kelsey Grammer Wants More Beast

beast x-men

The X-Men universe is in a state of unknown at the moment, especially for actors in the original franchise, thanks to the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Naturally, spoilers for the movie are contained within the article, so if you still haven’t seen it, it is probably best to turn back now.

Kelsey Grammer, who had played Beast in the third X-movie, made a cameo appearance in the film reprising his role. But the actor isn’t done there, at least if he has a choice in it. Speaking with Collider he expressed his desire to get back under the blue fur once more. “I hope to do another. I hope they find some way to come up with a new story that involves Beast in my timeline.”

In fact, he explained that he was the cause of his latest appearance as Hank McCoy. “Actually I called Bryan. I bumped into Hugh Jackman and he said, ‘Oh you’re gonna be in another X-Men, mate!’ and I said, ‘No I’m not, I don’t know anything about it.’ So I made a couple of inquiries, got a hold of the script, found out that it’s primarily dealing with the past and that timeline I don’t have a place in, but I saw that at the end there was this coda where he made an appearance. I said, ‘Listen, I really wanna be involved,’ so Bryan arranged for it and I had a lovely time.”

Whether any future X-Men movies take place in Grammer’s timeline are unknown at the moment, with the next entry, Apocalypse, taking place in 1983 – at which point Beast is still a younger man, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult. The ending of Days of Future Past certainly opened up the potential for future X-Men films to focus on the original cast though, so there could be another chance for Grammer yet.

We will all find out when X-Men: Apocalypse hits cinemas on May 19, 2016.
